M8

M8 Studio Monitor
The Daniel Hertz M8 is a compact speaker with the soul of the big Daniel Hertz M1. Listeneres are astonished by the sound of the M8, never expecting such performance from a speaker of any size, let alone one with these relatively small dimensions and affordable price.

The M8 offers the natural sound, punch, dynamics, and sound stage that are the hallmarks of Daniel Hertz speakers. Recordings of music from all eras and genres are reproduced with ease. Unlike most speakers intended for home use, the M8 meets the needs of top recording and mastering engineers as a near field monitor.

The M8 features a super high performance compression driver tweeter and 8” woofer designed and built by the Daniel Hertz team that produced the M1, using the same engineering approach, technologies and materials. The controlled dispersion of the M8 tweeter puts the musical energy to work where it is needed – forward of the speaker but without beaming, so you can listen from any position in front of the speaker. The M8 woofer is a rugged unit that produces fast, clean, punchy bass. The M8 can be described as a big small speaker or as a small big speaker, depending on your perspective. The M8 is easy to drive, with a nominal impedance of 8 Ohms. Good dynamic range is obtained with a power amplifier of 50WPC. For the maximum dynamic range, power of 150WPC is ideal.

The M8 is very heavy for its size – 23kg (50lb) due to the solid cabinet and substantial construction of its drivers and crossover. The cabinet is finished in a beautiful true black piano finish. The grill snaps on with invisible magnets in the speaker cabinet. The M8 can be placed on stands, on a shelf, or mounted with wall brackets via threaded inserts on the rear of the speaker cabinet.

The M8 is intended for use as a music speaker and for surround sound applications. With the threaded mounting holes provided, the M8 is easily installed on walls of a home theater.

The M8 has the same natural tonal balance as the M1. Therefore, the M8 enables listeners to use Daniel Hertz Master Class software for Mac as the music player, and take full advantage of factory supplied presets for fine tuning of recordings of music. A Master Class blog will enable users of Daniel Hertz speakers and Master Class to share their preferences in recorded music, and the presets they create for fine tuning them. M8 owners sit in the front row.
